“What’s that at the center of the room? I should probably take a closer look.”
* After touching and event-triggered
“Touching the object…… Interesting……”
Space 1:
“This room…… Wait…… Why does it feel familiar to me? Have I been here before?”
Object: Origami Boat
Text:
“Hey, little dude,
I know…… I know it can be tough going to school alone. The first day can sound daunting, but it can also be packed with excitement and surprises. Mommy knows how brave a kid you are, and I’m always proud of you. Open your school bag, I got a surprise waiting for ya!(try not to open it in class okay :) )
See you at home, I love you.
Love,
Mom ”
Space 2:
“How messy…… What are these things? Why is everything upside down?”
“ Dear Team Member,
Congratulations! This is a significant year for you as you celebrate an important service anniversary with us. Please know that you are an important member of our team and your abilities and contributions will be an important part of our continued success.
Sincerely,
Senior Vice President ”
Space 3:
“Oh...Am I back from the hospital?”
“Great… but Where is Charlotte? I remember I heard her voice. Did Jerry and Katie come with her?”
“Dear Dad,
Thanks for the present you gave Jerry and Katie last time. He loved it. He also said he wants to play baseball with you in the backyard next time. Ben and I are going to visit you next
Thanksgiving and will bring you your favorite cookies.
Love you,
Daughter ”
2.Successes (What went right):
Throughout the entire development process, each group member all had an open mind and we were able to exchange ideas freely. We were all very clear about our work and were able to finish our work on time with high quality. The entire process went smoothly due to a positive team atmosphere, which is quite impressive for a newly formed group collaborating together for the first time.
3.Failures (What went wrong):
During the class testing, there are a couple of players who have some trouble understanding the color faded of each room that they think they entered another room. Also, the players may have trouble understanding the game story without explaining and hard to find the trigger object when they first enter the room. For the coding part, we had some trouble at the beginning, but after the research and discussion we just figured out most of the coding, but hard to accomplish the video faded out function in unity. And the other thing was that at first, we wanted to add an eye-opening animation at the beginning; we did make a simple animation, but the eye-opening effect is not very natural and realistic. So then we used video instead of the eye-opening animation.
4.Lessons Learned (What did you learn from your failures or how did you overcome them):
Group working is very hard. The members of our group were very active, and each of us actively communicated with each other to help each other out so that we could solve our problems very quickly.
5.Future Development (If you were to continue working on this game how would you improve it):
If we were to continue working on this game, we would probably add more detail such as walking sound effects and the sound of opening doors. Another thing that we would want to challenge ourselves would be to create original assets for our own game instead of downloading from the asset store, which would add a lot more originality to our game. Last but not least, maybe adding animation at the beginning and the end of our game to give more context to the players.
